5 Ways to Overcome a Depressive State of Mind with Hypnosis

posted in: Anxiety, Hypnosis, Stress

These days, people have more on their plate than ever before.

You’re a working parent with one or more children. Those children need your love and attention – some days, more attention than you feel you have to give.

Your career is demanding at the moment – you’ve got a big project on the go, a new boss you’re reporting to that you don’t like, and some days, you feel like a hamster on a wheel.

Your marriage or partnership needs some work. You feel like you’re being pulled in all these different directions. In the meantime, you can’t remember the last time you had a few hours to yourself, you can’t remember the last book you read for pleasure and you feel you’re living just for the weekends – which are too short and fail to live up to expectations anyway. You’re burnt out. You might even be depressed.

Life is too short to be depressed, especially if you can think of ways to get out of that funk. Here are some tips to ease yourself out of your depressive state:

  1. Take a rest. Take a breather from life. When life feels like just too much, take a walk in the fresh air, watch a silly movie, read a comic book, or jump on that coloring book bandwagon.
  2. Take some time for yourself. Take an afternoon away from the spouse and kids, decline that invitation without guilt and make a weekend without any plans. And don’t feel bad about it – we all need alone time to recharge.
  3. Exercise. Whether you choose to hit the gym or go for a bike ride, move your body. It will make you feel better about yourself, and it does your body good. Those endorphins will keep you happy, even after you’ve stopped exercising.
  4. Eat well. Take care of your body from the inside out. Fresh fruit and vegetables are great for you. Drink water and eat a balanced diet.
  5. Consider talking to someone, or seeing a hypnotherapist.
