“You are a true success if you can trust yourself, LOVE YOURSELF and be yourself.” –Dr. Debasish Mridha
Time and again, people have asked the same questions. How can I find the right partner? How can I secure a good job? How can I attract positive things into my life?
Although hard work, patience and other factors can help you achieve your heart’s desires, the ultimate answer is self-love. How you feel about yourself affects your actions and by extension, everything else in your life – from relationships down to your career.
Attracting the right partner
Perhaps you have heard this advice a thousand times – you have to love yourself first before someone else can love you. There is a reason why people repeat this age-old lesson. It is because this cliché is true. You need to embrace the person that you are to attract the right partner for you.
If you do not love yourself, you will feel as though you are missing something. You will feel like you have an empty space within you that needs to be filled by another person. So you search for a partner who can “complete” you.
But that is not what a relationship is for. It is not your partner’s responsibility to help you “complete” yourself. It is yours and yours alone.
If you allow another person to “complete” you, what happens when they leave? You will fall apart and might have a hard time moving on from your breakup. In fact, some people fall into depression or resort to suicide because they have depended a huge part of their being on partners who broke up with them.
If you lack self-love, you also have the tendency to settle for a person who treats you far lesser than you deserve or someone who holds you back from reaching your full potential. You are prone to cultivating toxic relationships that will only worsen your lack of self-esteem and self-respect.
On the contrary, when you feel good about yourself, you are willing to walk away from relationships that do not serve you. You refuse to tolerate partners who disrespect you and you begin to attract people whom you are romantically compatible with.
Additionally, self-love is an attractive trait. Who wouldn’t like to have a partner who is emotionally stable because they are confident and self-assured? People will love to be with you and might even be inspired of your example.
Attracting a good job
Good jobs are not handed down to you on a silver platter. It just doesn’t work that way. You have to get out there and search for one yourself. Sounds simple? Well, it can be pretty challenging if you don’t love yourself enough.
The lack of self-esteem can be a powerful factor that can hold you back from claiming opportunities. Even if one is already in front of you, if you do not believe in yourself, you may not even see it. You must be able to motivate yourself to grab opportunities around you and you can only do that if you have self-love.
Remember, confidence is among the most important things that employers look for. They are looking for an employee who is a go-getter – someone who has a strong belief that they can make things happen.
Also, self-love can gain you more than just a good job. When you have it, it paves the way towards career success.
If you love yourself, you constantly seek to improve your skills. As a result, your potentials are maximized, you perform better at work and great opportunities such as promotions are going to be within your reach.
How to develop self-love
Here are some simple and easy-to-follow steps that will help you feel positive about yourself:
- Begin your day with love and not technology.
When you wake up in the morning, what is the first thing that you do? Do you automatically pick up your phone to scan for messages? Try to keep any form of technology away from your bed as much as possible. Strive to begin your day with motivating thoughts. Think about what you want to accomplish for the day and plan on how you can get it done.
- Meditate and keep a journal.
Every day, spare at least fifteen minutes of your time for meditating and journaling. Make it a habit to communicate with yourself. You will be surprised at how this simple practice can change you.
- Talk to yourself positively.
The kind of language you use when you talk to yourself is quite influential. If you fill your mind with negative self-talk, then it is no surprise that your life will reflect negativity. Learn to motivate yourself. Develop an “I-can” attitude and be your own cheerleader.
- Be honest – emotionally.
Shopping, eating, drinking – these are just a few of the things that most of us do to escape our emotions. While taking a break can indeed be helpful, avoiding our emotions is a completely different and harmful thing to do. Be brave. Face your emotions and mindfully breathe your way through.
- Explore new interests.
Dare to try a new hobby. Learn a new language. Go to places you have never been to before. It’s time to go on exciting adventures!
- Enjoy activities that enhance your life.
Get out there and be physically active. Play your favorite sport or hit the gym. Discover healthy eating. Take a break by turning your phone off for a day.
- Be patient with yourself.
Let go of urgency. Developing self-love and self-esteem does not happen overnight. It is a serious process that takes time so be patient with yourself. Appreciate the journey and more importantly, appreciate every little progress that you make.
Hypnosis and self-love
The number one enemy of self-love is negative self-talk. “You are not good enough.” “You can’t do this!” If you have told yourself these lines, then you should learn how to release these damaging thoughts from your mind.
With hypnosis, you can change your thought patterns. This means, you will have the power to replace your negative thoughts with nurturing ones. Your “I-can’t”s will transform into “I can”s.
But that is not all! If you smoke, overeat or indulge in other habits that are harmful to YOU, hypnosis an also help you overcome them.
